We were in Bali during the December Christmas holiday. Although we were looking forward to go on the Mount Batur trekking trip, we did not book in advance because we hoped that we could find a cheaper option during our stay in Bali. However, after we went around in Bali we came to a realization that Bali Jungle Trekking was offering one of the best rates in Bali. We thought that we would try one of the offers of Bali Jungle Trekking so that we reached out to Bali Jungle Trek through their booking page and got a response within minutes. We had to leave at 1.45 a.m. in the morning from our hotel to be able to reach Mount Batur in order to experience the sunrise from the summit of the active volcano.
Our driver for the day was Suta and he was at the hotel to pick us up at exactly 1.45 a.m. He was a great guy and very informative as well as helpful. Throughout our 2 hour car trip to the foothills of Mount Batur and back he told us a lot about the culture of Bali, attractions, holidays, beliefs, lifestyle, and festivals in Bali.
On the way back he even offered us to stop by to enjoy attractions or take pictures. At the foot hills of Mount Batur, our trekking guide had been waiting for us. He was a local person from the so-called “Kintamani” village. I must say that he was a great guide. The trekking itself was not that easy as we had to navigate through a rocky trail in the darkness under the star lights. However, it could be done by anyone who is favorably fit. The two hours of hard work was worth the effort when we arrived at the summit of the mountain.
Incredibly, it was heaven with a magnificent sunrise and a clean breeze. Then, we enjoyed a tasty breakfast with boiled eggs, and banana sandwiches while enjoying the tranquility of the wonderful surroundings. During the hiking trip down we took a different route down. Suta had been waiting for us at the foothills and ready to take us back to the hotel. On our way back to the hotel, he stopped at several places where we could get a splendid view of Kintamani village with Mount Batur as the backdrop. He even took us to pass through Tegalalang rice terrace.
Overall, the whole experience we had undergone was simply awesome.
The guide provided for the Mount Batur trekking trip was very considerate and helpful. Above all, our trip was a very pleasant experience.
